Survey finds college students sacrifice class for gas and ignore dashboard warnings

Provided by: Brandpoint - August 04, 2023

As college students set off to campuses nationwide, many say gas is their biggest financial strain and that they ignore dashboard warnings lights, including “check engine.” A new survey found one-third of college students are skipping class, the library or study groups due to lack of gas.

To help ease students’ pain at the pump, the “Fuel Ride to College” program is awarding ten incoming college freshmen four years of Shell gasoline. In addition to 10 Fuel Rides, Advance Auto Parts is offering students and their parents free off-to-campus in-store services nationwide. The free battery testing and installation, wiper blade installation and check engine light scanning will give students and their parents peace of mind regarding the reliability of their car on the road to college, around campus and back home.
